Lancashire based web development company Athernet Solutions today announced that they have been awarded full membership to Nominet the UK domain name governing body.
The new membership means that Athernet Solutions are now able to register .uk names directly with the not-for-profit organisation that manages the UK domain name system.
To be eligable as a member, a company must have certain technical systems in place to enable them to manage domain name registrations on clients' behalf.
Athernet Solutions upgraded it's entire website hosting infrastructure earlier this year to provide clients with the highest possible hosting service and as such had no problems meeting Nominet's required criteria.
As a member of Nominet, Athernet Solutions has a say in how UK domain names are managed via it's vote in future steering committees. They are also able to secure any type of .uk domain name on behalf of their clients, including .co.uk, .plc.uk and the coverted .ltd.uk domain registrations.
