A domain name is the address associated with your emails and website, for example yourbusinessname.com. Having a good domain name is crucial to your company's website success.  

Once registered your domain name can be 'pointed' to our business level hosting system, it can then be used for your business' website and email accounts .  

When choosing your company's domain names should consider the following:  

• Your domain name should be simple and easy to remember
• It should be as short as possible
• A domain name can include a cobination of letters, numbers and hyphens
• If you are looking to promote your website with search engine marketing then including common search keywords in your domain name may be of benefit
• It should be easy to spell - you may like to also register common mispellings of your domain name
• You cannot infrindge on another company's trade marks, brand names or intellectual property and you should check before registering that no other company has a legal right to the domain name you are choosing.
• You can usually have as many domain names, once you have registered a domain it is unavailable to anyone else
• It is usually a good idea to get at least the .com and .co.uk variations of each domain name to prevent someone else from registering them and trading on your company's goodwill
• You must be sure to adhere to the (External) terms and conditions of the appropriate domain name governing body, in the case of .uk domain names this is (External) Nominet
• There are additional rules for the registration of .ltd.uk and .plc.uk domain names

Domain Ownership  

When you secure a domain name for your company with Athernet Solutions, it is rightfully owned by you.  

Please be aware that some registration companies have additional charges of between £10 and £100 to release your domain name should you want to move it at a later date. Athernet Solutions makes no charge to release your domain names.  

Nominet Terms and Conditions  

By registering a .uk domain name, you enter into a contract of registration with Nominet UK on the following (External) terms and conditions . This is a separate contract to any arrangement you may have with any third party for the provision of internet services. Please read before proceeding with your order.
