North West e-commerce companies should produce relevant content for their site in order to improve the organic search engine optimisation (SEO) of the website.
Writing for eConsultancy, SEO expert James Gurd advises e-commerce companies to create a logical structure for their web pages that ensures all articles and guides on products are included.
Adding download versions of content for any e-commerce customers that may want to read things offline could increase traffic to the website and encourage people to use the site again.
Putting multi-layer opt-ins, such as RSS feeds, on e-commerce websites may encourage customers to subscribe to receive different types of information from the site.
Make sure there are social media profiles set up to promote the products you have on sale, then drop links to the different social profiles to let customers know what is new on the website, Mr Gurd advises.
Recently, business leadership management company Markman OTW said online marketing through social media channels, such as Twitter, could benefit e-commerce companies.
It is a useful way to increase the business profile of a firm as well as helping connect with people, said Mark Batchelor, managing director of the company.
He added: "If you start promoting yourself and having online conversations, you can engage with people you wouldn't normally come across, exchange ideas and you may even find that people start helping you."
