Companies in Lancashire should consider using online marketing platforms in order to boost their profile, an expert has suggested.
Richard Houdmont, director for Wales of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, has claimed that digital advertising channels are "growing powerfully", which is in stark contrast to investment in traditional promotions.
In a column for the Western Mail, he outlined that both social networking and viral marketing can be beneficial to firms.
Discussing the former, he outlined that social networks allow businesses to build a brand on sites that people regularly access.
On the latter, he said: "The potential for viral marketing is under-exploited and the company that wants to create impact and advertise effectively, while operating on a tight budget, could do well to investigate and exploit the potential of viral far more than is currently the case."
Mr Houdmont's comments have come after research by Implix revealed that over 80 per cent of companies plan to use video emails this year.
Econsultancy reports that this marks a major rise from 2009, when only 15.7 per cent of firms made use of such multimedia content in promotional messages.
