Women 'seek out bargains through online retail'

12:04 5th March 2010

Women are more likely then men to seek out bargain deals through online retail services, new research has suggested.

The study by Deutsche Card Services, which may interest companies in Lancashire with an online presence, revealed that female consumers in Europe tend to spend €33.41 (£30.17) less than men when shopping via the internet.

According to the body, the research, which also revealed the value of the average shopping basket has risen by nearly a fifth in recent times, is evidence that women have finally fully embraced the benefits of e-commerce.

Among the other findings revealed in the study is the fact that European shoppers are most likely to make purchases on Monday mornings, while many are also more open to use shopping facilities abroad.

It revealed that online shops in Germany have particularly become more attractive to international customers.

Recent research published by the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising revealed that the introduction of universal broadband across the UK could create an additional £1.4 billion revenue through website sales.

It also suggested that those with faster connections are 36.9 per cent more likely to use online shopping facilities.ADNFCR-2032-ID-19652883-ADNFCR
