Blogs 'can do wonders' for companies in Lancashire

Businesses across Lancashire that are looking to boost their online presence should consider using blogs, an expert has claimed.

Writing for Econsultancy, Kevin Gibbons claimed that the use of such platforms as part of an online marketing strategy could "do wonders" for a firm's position in search engine rankings.

He added that firms should even consider approaching blogs with an authoritative influence in their industry to see if they would like to promote products. However, he went on to explain that any firm looking to do this would have to "tread very carefully".

"When you're dealing with a blogger, a negative discussion or debate could result in bad publicity on the very blog you're trying to gain exposure and links through," he explained on the website.

A better approach may be to offer to write guest posts on blogs, he added, as a regular column or one-off contribution from a business in their specialist area may provide a boost to their profile.

Mr Gibbons concluded: "It's important that such posts are interesting in their own right and not just sales pitches."
