11:40 2nd July 2009
E-commerce sites are proving to be very popular with consumers because they take the stress out of shopping.
This is the view of Bronagh Meere, a style writer for Heat magazine, who said online shopping is much easier than struggling through crowded high streets.
Indeed, she stated that some people "hate" having to go to the shops, particularly because they have to wait in queues.
However, E-commerce does not present this problem, and shopping on the internet negates the need to leave the house.
Ms Meere added that buying products online is also popular because customers do not have to part with actual notes and coins, thereby making them feel more willing to make a purchase.
"It feels like it's not real because no physical money is exchanging hands," she commented.
This, she stated, gives users of E-commerce sites "a sense of guilt-free shopping".
Ms Meere's comments came in response to new figures from online fashion store ASOS, which revealed that its profits have gone up 93 per cent in the last year.
Statistics from the company also showed that its E-commerce site had about 1.2 million active users by the end of May 2009 - 68 per cent up on the same period of 2008.
