12:00 30th June 2009
North-west E-commerce company Shop Direct Group has decided to embark on a major rebranding project for one of its highest profile websites.
The firm owns the Littlewoods Direct brand, which has a long association with catalogue and mail order shopping.
It now wants to change that image to attract a slightly younger client base and has chosen to rename the brand Very.co.uk as part of a move to focus more on online shopping, although it will still publish a catalogue.
Plans for the changes are moving forward and Shop Direct Group has already appointed an advertising agency for the Very.co.uk concept.
As well as containing more than 10,000 product pages, the website design will include a social networking element in order to allow customers to discuss fashion and pick up tips from onsite experts.
David Inglis, Shop Direct Group's trading director, recently told Retail Week the move was a response to customer demand for a different online shopping experience.
"[Customers] miss the social aspect of shopping on the high street and with Very they will be able to influence what we do. It will be more of a shared shopping experience," he explained.
The north-west E-commerce company made the headlines recently when it relaunched defunct high street brand Woolworths as an internet-only store.
