Standout call-to-action buttons 'can help increase sales'

E-Commerce firms looking to increase sales during the current economic climate have been offered a series of website design tips to help them stand out from their competitors.

Writing for Econsultancy, reporter Graham Charlton claimed that one of the most important aspects of design lies in the call-to-action buttons that ultimately encourage consumers to complete a transaction.

He insisted that a good call-to-action button which stands out from the other elements of a website can play a vital role in helping to attract as many clicks as possible and increasing conversions by leaving would-be customers in no doubt as to how to proceed with their purchase.

He suggested that online marketing companies should therefore experiment with various aspects of design, such as positioning, colour and size, in order to secure the most sales.

While the button should invariably be the biggest link on the page to prevent shoppers having to hunt round for it, attention can also be drawn by leaving some space around it so it is clearly visible.

Meanwhile, the choice of colour should be bright and bold to ensure it stands out from the background of the page, while colours such as "green for go" will often have an impact on shoppers' behaviour.
