Home > Industry news > 'Simple website design' is key to boosting sales conversions
11:09 23rd June 2009
Online marketing may be vital to help attract potential customers, but businesses looking to make the most of their advertising must also focus on increasing sales conversions, it has been claimed.
According to software firm Allies Computing, an impressive website design and a successful marketing campaign is just the first step for companies looking to boost their E-Commerce sales during the downturn.
Once customers have been drawn onto the website, businesses must then ensure it is easy for users to click through and buy the product or service on offer if they are to see a healthy return on their ad spend.
Allies Computing claimed that by following a few simple tips, E-Commerce firms can ensure customers continue to the checkout and complete the transaction.
It advised firms to remove time-consuming registration requirements from the checkout process in order to avoid losing would-be customers, while asking buyers to enter information twice should also be avoided.
Adding features such as an automated address look-up can help make the process easier and quicker for the consumer, but perhaps the most important consideration is to have a simple website design.
By clearly listing relevant information like delivery costs and call-to-action buttons, buyers can proceed with minimum interruption or fuss.
According to Graham Charlton of Econsultancy, making an effective call-to-action button that stands out from other elements on the page can also help increase conversions.
