eBay has worked hard to win the trust of its customers after a series of security scares, according to one expert.
Chris Dawson of ecommerce news provider Tamesbay has highlighted the efforts made by eBay to make its internet shopping experience safer for paying customers.
He was speaking in the wake of the results from a recently-conducted survey which found that eBay is now the most trusted ecommerce site on the internet.
The finding by the Ponemon Institute and TRUSTe found that the online outlet had jumped seven places, overtaking rival Amazon.
Mr Dawson commented: "What’s most interesting to me is that eBay has been the number one target for phishing and fraud for many years, but have worked hard to improve user security.
"With steps such as concealing bidder IDs and anonymising email communications between buyers and sellers they are continually fighting to improve security and protect members' privacy."
According to estimates from eBay, two million unwanted presents will have been put up for auction on the website as soon as December 27th this year.
The YouGov-conducted poll found that every Christmas £2 billion is wasted on presents which are not appreciated.
